Default No central locking & fob not working

Hi guys,

Had this for about a week now & initially thought it was fob batteries as I don't often use the other doors, but realised the central locking isn't working yesterday. I do hear the 'double lock' when locking the car with the key though.

I've yet to check fuses or anything, just wondered if it sounds like a common issue & where to start looking if so? There's currently 3" of snow on the car so no chance I'll be looking till next week, so seemed a good idea to ask in advance.

There is a well documented problem with these fobs. You need to pull it apart and clean the surface of the electronic board where the buttons press. The get contaminated. Use a cotton ear bud with metho and clean the surface and the back of the rubber pad. You will see black graphite stain the cotton bud. Keep cleaning until the cotton bud remains clean. Reassemble and test. You may need to reprogram the remote via the headlight flas method, easy to find on google.

Thanks but it's not that. I know that one well & have to do it every month or two.
The central locking doesn't work via the key or dash button either, so I'm assuming that's the cause of the fob not working this time.

Hmm the central locking came back today & the boot button is working on the fob, so that means it must still be programmed to the car right?

I'll clean it again for the eleventy hundreth time, even though I did it the other day when I put fresh batteries in.

Well to finish this off.

It's all working again now it's got warmer. My suspicion is I need to lube the locks. I reckon one isn't quite moving free so when it gets cold it's not triggering the microswitches correctly & that's why the central locking drops out, bit like when you leave the boot open & it won't lock.
