hi my x type will not lock with the key fob, ive had the fob checked and thats works fine. any ideas anyone?

Hi Dave, If the keyfob seems inoperative with your car it could be the shutter on the ignition barrel not covering the keyhole when the key is out (if need be a little light oil in the opening will release the shutter) *or* if it has never worked it could need programming to your car for which there are a few threads on here.

 

Actually, the key fob can LOSE its programming! don't ask me how - but this did happen to my wife's X-Type - it suddenly would not recognise commands from the fob - and yes, I changed the battery. My dealer reprogrammed both fobs, and all is well.
