For the sake of verifying if you are on the right path (which obviously you are) of repairing this once and for all, I would do the same thing. However, for the sake of all the other “ambient air hungry radiators”, I would locate a used radiator and go with that. It really depends on how performance oriented you are. If your not in the throttle very often, keep the trans cooler there.
