This is what my upholsterer did to mine about 7 yrs ago...
The rear seat with the red markings is where a big red stain was. Probably a PO with a kid and he dropped his Slurpy or Slushy drink. It went all the way to the backside of the seat and armrest.
Other than that, the rear seat was in great condition. Looks as good today as then.
I did forget to note that the steering wheel was also redyed.

Wow they did a great job! CLEAN! I'm not so concerned with the piping I just want a clean look. Those seats came out great!

Highhorse - are you trying to escape Central Florida because of vampires? Is that a string of garlic hanging from your rear view mirror?

LOL...not quite, that's my Hawaiian shell lei (made in the Philippines...lol). My escape of central FL because of all the Yankees moving here.
I am trying to move to Charleston SC...big history buff, and this city has it.
I'm an OTR (over the road) contractor and I know most all the East coast from Mobile to Savannah to Maine. Been to Japan, Hawaii and most the lower 48 and I know Pensacola well enough...love going to the Naval Aviators Museum there.

Welp...... I made a grave mistake....I found another X308 01 VDP just like the last one,172k miles, original owner, everything works except rear passenger inside door handle release. The motor has a miss see attached video for reference.......
Price paid was $1000.00 a new transmission had just been installed 9 months ago! The elderly guy said he doesn't want to put any more cash into the car. Guy was a smoker for sure lol.

Here is the video of that noise almost sounds as if there is a vacuum leak some where??
https://photos.app.goo.gl/CPicHVBSdqbnTyYv6

The car is originally from Arizona, they moved to California and brought it with them

Cup holder functions correctly!!!

Awww, no fair, you got the valet key with yours...

That sounds like an exhaust manifold leak.

Not for nothing but also noticed the supercharger belt is missing, maybe it seized? That engine looks and sounds ragged, Besides the tensioners wouldn't be surprised if there is some rod knock in there. It's a shame, someone couldn't afford/didn't believe in maintenance.

anduha...the SC belt is missing because there's no SC...its a regular xj8. Heck, the new trans alone was worth the price. He could sell that for $1000-1200 and part out a bit of it for another $500+ then sell the shell to a scrapper for $350. He could even get the carpet and leather cleaned up and redyed for a couple hundred and easily sell if for $2500 barring what he finds for that noise.

This seller is even shadier if that is what they are claiming. With the SC, intercoolers and additional accessory belt it is clear this was a supercharged engine from the factory. Additional clues are the aluminum coolant crossovers and double stacked return hoses from the coolant tank. I'd bet real money thats a SC engine or at least it was.

You can't just deactivate the SC and it becomes a normal naturally aspirated 4.0 L AJ26 V8. The SC engine had dished pistons to reduce compression due to the SC and also there is no tuned intake runners found on a NA V8. That is to say deactivate the SC and it isn't making 290 HP like a regular XJ8, more in the neighborhood of 230-240 HP.

Being SC from the factory it also has a different trans, the Mercedes W580 vs the ZF trans on regular XJ8s. It's actually a superior trans but incompatible with regular XJ8s. No wonder this car is in such poor shape, the seller seems to have no idea what they are doing or talking about.

Yes that was the very first one I looked at, I ended up returning the car due to the high DMV fees that were attached to the vehicle in order to register it!
I ended picking up 2 cars for the price of what I initially paid for the black XJR!

Yep, no doubt, I was just looking at the intake and listening to that noise. It's a good possibility when they put in the new trans, they also replaced the motor. I wonder if they did a junkyard swap, pulling the whole engine and trans and plopping it in this girl and calling it a day?
Check the VIN for reference.

Black XJR was returned I only have the 02 and 01 VDP now. The new trans was replaced in the 01 NA car that I just picked up for $1000........that black XJR is long gone.

I was responding to the video at the top of the page, we were probably talking about two different cars.
