I just got my XJ8 and want to do minor maintnance like change engine oil and tranny, But I would like to know if I could use regular engine oil instead of synthetic?

 

The dealers use regular oil when they perform an oil change. You are fine using regular oil -- use the proper weight per owners manual. I switched to synthetics when I stopped driving the car as often -- synthetics are good for two years, regular oil should be changed at one year.


Don't play with the transmission until you do some research.

But what weght oil shou I use. It has 153000 miles. And maybe use CASTROL or MOBILE?
