Sorry to spring this old thread back to life, but I am concerned with the 0-30w mobil 1 synthetic engine oil that I changed to in late March this year.

We had our tensioners fail in June last year. The primary & secondary tensioners, chains, guides and water pump were replaced with the latest ones in the middle of July last year.

We noticed that the engine was not as quiet with the metal tensioners at startup and on the road. It is just a little noisier.

Now during late May and now entering the summer heat, the engine at startup sounds like it is not getting enough lubrication to the upper timing chains. Or maybe it the overhead valves we are hearing that is not getting the proper lubrication?

Our mechanic thinks we should replace the 0-30w with 10-30w synthetic mobil 1 for the summer months.

I like to have some more input before I go out and buy some more synthetic engine motor oil.

I do not want to have any more problems with the tensioners.
