Doing the coolant hose and pipe overhaul.

The new OEM pipe has cheaper material and missing the ridge on one end unlike the original.

 

Yep pretty typical of things nowadays. Sucks but "It is what it is". God I hate that statement!

I'm kinda shocked that there is a newer part at all. I've been restoring old cars for a long time. Normally I've come to expect that they made 5% extra of parts like that one in the original batch runs to cover anticipated dealer repairs and that was it. Kind of wonder if they had already cheaped out by 2003 (or whatever year that part was last installed on the assembly line) and that was just one of the last batch.

 

Yes, it is sad but true....nice and shiny is not always better than tried and true.
