Sarcasm I'm assuming? The wood looks like vinyl with a wood print on it. Not my cup of tea.

There is no way that is vinyl with the prices they are charging...

I'm not saying all of it is great, but certain pieces I'd love to have. The center armrest for one... the glasses holder, etc etc

The armrest would be all I would want. I even pondered the idea of contracting a master wood worker, to make a custom one from scratch. I abandoned the idea when I realized that matching the existing veneer would be next to impossible. Anything else except a CLOSE match would look cheesy. I even thought of buying the passenger airbag covers from the junkyard, and using the veneer off of them. Showed it to one woodworking artist, and he said that reusing the veneer off of the pass airbag would be impossible (veneer would disintegrate). But man,.....I'd love to have the center armrest in wood!
Now I'm thinking .....VDP picnic tables! They are big enough (and I have three of them on hand!), and with some carefull carving, he might be able to make a lid for the center console! I need to look into this more closely!

The problem there is the veneer is about 2/3mm thick and covered in a hard polyurethane clearcoat mounted to aluminium. It cannot be separated without breaking it.

To use a flat section of the picnic's? jigsaw a top out that matches the dimensions of the original, then mount that with leather sides?

wow overkill.

as much as i like some wood in the interior....thats too much for my taste. I think the stock setup is a perfect mix of wood/leather

Now that's an idea! Me being a mediocre mechanic, fairly good gunsmith (self taught), and a MISERABLE wood worker, I'll run this by my cabinet maker. It should be asy for someone skilled with wood.

I assume picnic tables are solid wood through and through (I know they are veneered over something cheap, but I hope it's wood underneath)?
