Hi My 1998 XJ8 works perfectly and is in mont condition - except the drivers door. If yoou use the key then all doors open and lock.

If you ise the remote - all doors EXCEPT THE DRIVERS DOOR open and lock but NOT the drivers door.

All doors open and lock if you use any of the doors internal handle. Its seems one compnent/connection in the drivers doors has failed in part. Its there - it works other doors with the key but it does not react to the remote at all.

Which part/connection do I aim to check and or replace please?

do al the doors lock and unlock when using the unlock button on the center dash? Sounds like and electrical problem....interesting to know if the dash button unlocks all the doors

 

Interesting; my driver's door won't unlock when I pull the handle from the inside. Everything else still works, as far as locks go. I've been in there a couple of times and didn't notice any wiring to the locking assembly. I'm thinking that it's controlled by one of those door modules, and my scanner indicates five faults in there. Hopefully, one of our electronic specialist members can point us all in the right direction.
