Default Opened up the antenna motor and installed a switch

I know we have several posts on replacing the antenna masts on our forum. I have done it multiple times. In fact I had to do it twice during the first month of Jag Ownership. Twice I drove into a car wash, turned off the radio (which retracts the antenna) and twice I was sitting there, with these massive brushes going all over my car and thinking, let's listen to some music. Yes, twice I switched on my radio and extended the antenna into rotating and moving car wash brushes. Live and learn.

Last week I had another problem with the antenna. This time the toothed belt was broken, so I had to take the whole thing apart. I also, finally, got around to installing a manual override switch on the antenna motor. It is cleverly hidden in the ashtray!!

I have done an extensive write-up, and lots of photographs on this Indian forum. Lived in India for four years, but I am still active on it, In particular on this thread I show all the big and small jobs I do on my cars.

Just a few thoughts: My X308 is a 2002 and I have the electrical guide 2001/2002. I don't know if the wiring for the antenna motor is different for other years. When you disconnect the battery to work on the wiring, make sure you have your radio code at hand!!
