Default Oxygen Sensor Codes After Driving Hard

Hi all,

This has happened to me a few times within the past year. If i drive aggresively in sport mode for 15mins plus, i get engine codes P0153 and P0133. Which are O2 sensor circuit slow response for the upstream oxygen sensors. After a couple days of normal driving the codes clear by themselves. Are my O2 sensors on their way out? Or is this some kind of glitch? Anyone else notice this?

Thanks

You will have better luck getting advise if we knew what kind of vehicle you have. I recommend adding it to your signature so it will always be there. Let us know what we are dealing with.

This is amateur-advice, I've got no experience with that issue -> but if it were my car I'd remove the sensor and try cleaning it.

What? Once you get to the sensor, lots of work, change it.

First, try a can of fuel system cleaner. Lucas, Gumout, etc.

Although that sounds like a good idea, the actual 'sensing' portion of an oxygen sensor is actually shielded under a metal dome with holes or louvers. Anything other than what comes out of the combustion chamber would ruin the sensor. (Wire brush or solvent cleaning)

If the car has a lot of miles on it or if the oxygen sensors are original, I would replace them. You'd be surprised just how much more response your engine has.

+1 replace for known good one

They're wear items (think about HOT exhaust gas) and will all fail eventually.

Car has 150,000 km. I believe they are originals. I have heard the same about the sensors helping with throttle response, although its not driving sluggish. So the 2 sensors i can find are the Denso (OEM) and Bosch., bosch being a bit cheaper...anyone have experience with the bosch?
Thanks Addicted

Both work: go f or best price. Real cost is the labor in getting at the one on the left side.
