Default P0706 and P1000 error codes

Hello all.

I read a couple of posts today but this problem seems to be uncommon. For the first time today, I decided to shift to the left side of the J-Gate. When I moved my selector from 4 to 3, thats when everything went down hill. My amber warning light came on and displayed the message, "gearbox fault, restricted performance". I shut down and restarted. The message went away and so I went home to get my computer. I replicated the situation and sure enough the same thing happened but this time the Check Engine Light (CEL) came on. When I plugged in I found two error codes (P0706 and P1000). The P1000, I was told will go away after driving for sometime, it still hasn't -_- As for the P0706 I am clueless on what to do.

From other threads, I learned I should probably say this about the J-Gate lights, the P, R, N, and D lights all come on. When you switch from D to 4, there is no lights and once you hit 3, no matter where you shift no lights come on. Hope this helps and in case this some work, anyone know some affordable Jaguar mechanics around the NYC (preferably Queens)area?

I know that this is an old/inactive thread, but maybe one day it may help someone. Here is what datsc offers in terms of an explanation:

Causes
Possible causes of OBD code P0706
