Hey everybody, a few people asked for full car pics with the new wheels and 67 Camaro front lip. So, here it is pushed out into the sun for the first time this year. May try another front spoiler but it mixes it up for a bit . I'll add some better quality pics and a a video link hopefully soon. Wheel info is in my sig. Hood vents will be frenched in as soon as the hood gets resprayed

 

The wheels look sharp, but I'm not a fan of the front lip. Without a full body kit it looks out of place. In my opinion, of course.

 

WOW! Really sharp. The dish on the wheels give it a retro/vintage vibe - very bold. Perfect stance as well, low but not too low - did you use drop springs or cut the factory ones? I think the lower spoiler suits the overall look of the car (I think it would look cleaner without the small links in front, but I know that's the rage for lower splitters, and just my opinion because the car is so clean). I put a '69 Camaro air dam on my '69 Nova and made three brackets to support it from behind to reinforce it (too flimsy otherwise).

I had been telling someone just before you first posted the lip, that if I ever moved to another car, I wanted to take the XJR, and make it like a track beast with wide flares, mean stance, spoilers, etc.. and you've given me a much more real image of it in my head! Like it!

 

Thanks everybody, much appreciated Just like you guys, just trying to complete that race car'ish, protouring'ish, trans am series "vision" while finding that happy comprimise between potentially obnoxious and non traditional x308 mods has been interesting. Like infx mentioned, the spoilers on camaros were reinforced by three bars and although i think the spoiler could hold up fine, at a structural level and at higher speeds the reinforcements will let me sleep a little better. It could be reinforced under the car and out of sight, thats just the way I reinforced it. I agree the lip and reinforcements are not a 100% fit on the car for some, especially in the pics, but at the same time when I walk by the car in person it looks right. We wouldn't know what it looked like until I tried. I cut some "project 7" number plates earlier tonight for fun, but my wife disliked enough so I took them off. Prob just needed to cut them at 20" instead of 13", yeah thats it

 

Yes you've done well as it's mean/muscle-ish while still remaining dignified. Good job sir.

 

That stance with those wheels are amazing I wish mine looked that nice

 

I like the Union Jack center caps and the wrap around hood band. Love the ground hugging crawl (my next venture) and those rims are pretty sporty.

Hey buddy, here's some measurements and a point of reference since i'm lowered

 

greverrr, you say you dropped yours 1.6 and are sitting at 26 1/8?....how did you get those 19's under it? I'm sitting stock at 26 3/4 on 18's and have 1 1/2 wheel to fender clear. If I drop mine 1.5, I'm at 25 1/4 and zero clear wheel to fender. You look like your clearing almost 1".

 

Looks great. Love the size and look of the wheels/tires. I do have a question though. What did you do to limit your wheel travel so as to not have your tires hit the inside of the wheelwell? Thanks.

 

Are the back tires and wheels wider, or are they wider from a spacer? (or maybe they are the same, and I am crazy...)

 

Sorry I never took a before measurement so 1.6'' was an incorrect estimate. Luckily now I can calculate as long as high horse is running stock 255/40-18s. My 255/40-19 is 27.03'' and a 255/40-18 runs 26.03''. So add a 1/2'' of height overall or 1/2'' of rubber up into my well what ever way you want to look at it. Puts me at 27.25'' with stock springs in respect to highhorse's measurement. Since i'm at 26.125'' that puts me at 1.12" lowered in a perfect geometrical world with no variables like tire flex, either way nice to know. My "stance" has a lot to do with the offset I run and the larger tire diameter. Loosely speaking I am basically running a +2 tire diameter. Rubbing isn't a problem unless it is in an uneven ground situation turning up a hill and right only. Not to be specific For reference my spring top is -1 full coil plus 1.5" into the circumference of the next coil up front. The rear has approx 9-9.5/10 of a coil cut out. I had originally planned on buying mina springs but was happy after testing the cut springs so I kept them. Cannot tell any difference in ride or handling and its been years at this point. Upgrade/replace bushes and shocks and you'll be good. I would be interested to hear from guys who have mina springs, the guys who cut the mina springs and where they sit in relation to these measurements, gotta know tire size too. Highhorse maybe I could get a rear measurement as well? I'll update my sig

 

You can fit one finger wrapped around the tire between the fender, thats my favorite stance for that "euro look", but once again has a lot to do with what your wheel offsets are. If you would like to see some really nice ones search "jaguar stanced" on google images

Quite coincidentally, ericjansen and I have been having a discussion about our ride heights and what each may do for a drop pkg. He also has some really cool options for body pkg's he has seen over in Japan he forwarded me. My rear floor to wheel well is 26 3/4" with 1 1/2" clearance to the tire, the front is 26 1/2" with 1 1/2" tire clearance. This was measured with a 1/2 tank of fuel.
With the 1 1/2" tire to well clearance, I've been rather attentive about the drops out there. They've ranged from 1 1/4 to 1 1/2, but hadn't really considered cutting the spring....thanks for the removal measurements. I may consider it now? I definitely don't want the well down over the wheel, I want it to blend like yours.

 

Definitely can't beat the price and the ride is great. Thanks for the rear measurement, much appreciated. I'm at 26.25'' with my 285/35-19 (26.85), so that puts the rear lowered at .92''. So the rear top (dead) coil in the rear removed is worth an inch approx (9-9.5/10 coil cut). I'm going to change my sig to 1'' lowered overall

 

Sweet ride. I like the front splitter as camaro's from these years didn't have that much plastic ground fx.
