i was sure that there would be posts part naswering these questions already, but i still appreciate specific help


xj8, 2002, vdp, 100K miles

1. minor pinking when its pushed hard up hill. i think this has only just started, but not sure as i rarely push it, but now i know there might be a problem i cant stop testing it! not sure if i can remedy by buying a higher octane fuel? or get a new knock sensor - if the latter then is it a easy job for my home garage - i am pretty incompetent mechanically

2. clunking on front suspension. odd thing is it isnt that bad on rough ground, but a minor bump or two on a flatish road and it clunks. not that loud, but i worry there is trouble in store.
