power steering
i have a 2000xj8 all stock. i have done all the work myself to my car via internet and forums and such. My high pressure hose for my power steering is cracked i am going to change it out myself and I need some advice on where to start ive never done this before. I no its pretty simple bolts and stuff from what people have told me but i dont know if i need to remove anything to get to it properly or any special tools?? any advice would be appreciated so far i havnt had any problems with anything ive replaced.
To tackle this I'd drop the fluid first by releasing one of the hoses to the res, then remove the res and replace the hose, fit the res and top it up. Turn the wheel lock to lock while engine running to feed fluid up to the rack and lines, top off and be done.
Hi RidenXj8
Welcome to the forum.
The Part for the hose is MNC3980AE - Jaguar Dealership Retail Price is about $39 discounted price is about $30 online plus shipping.
I looked at the aftermarket hose (part# W0133-1656821) about $34 plus shipping.
Here are photos of the Power Steering Reservoir to Pump Hose and the Reservoir:

ok i checked it out not the high pressure hose its on the return line i think by the rack it looks like a bolt or something is leaking didnt look like that rack def not the pump. good thing is i went to a junkyard today where a guy was parting my car and he had the engine out so i got to see how everything went together for the power steering much easier now that ive seen everything...just havnt pinpointed the leak 100%
SEXCESSS!!! found the leak found my ride in a junk yard without the engine and behold, i found all the lines i needed and since my photographic memory is so sweet it was a major help figuring out how to change them out without lifting the motor or dropping the tranny but let me tell you how big a pain in the rear end it was...But anyway thanks everyone for their help im leak free.
