Default Question: Removing locking pins from new timing chain tensioners?

I am currently swapping the timing chains: X308, 3.2L, 1999.
I am fairly sure that I do not have VVT and that I have an AJ27.
Swapping the chains is actually done already - just one thing, which bugs me:
Did I pull the correct pins from the chain tensioners?...

In those blue circles you can just spot the red pins from the new secondary tensioners. I am sure they need to be pulled, once everything else is fitted properly. In those green circles are the primary tensioners. They also have red pins. Are they also supposed to be pulled? I did, but I am not sure, if that was correct - at least I just found a YT-video, where those were also pulled. But is that correct?

And once, that red pin of the primary tensioner is pulled: Am I supposed to turn that black thing into any direction? That black thing, which looks a bit like a bit of a chain (where the red arrow points at).

What does turning that black part do?

Thanks...

Yes you must pull those pins. This is part of the ratchet mechanism. If you move the black chain link looking piece, you release the ratchet part that retains tension on the chain without oil pressure.

Pull the pin and let the black part sit where it rests and youre good to go

Make sure you reinstalled the platea behind the tensioners and that they are in the right orientation

Thanks, Quadcammer - I thought so, but was not sure.
I actually turned one of those chain-link-lookalikes already 1 tick anticlockwise. Shall I leave it there or shall I turn it back?

About those plates behind the primary tensioners: Initially did did install one of them, until I realized that this causes the tensioner to be offset. Then I realized that that plate is not supposed to go back on, The new tensioner does not need/want it.

The pins are pulled AND the chains TENSIONED BEFORE the sprockets are tightened.

Everything in 'time' and then the sprocket bolts are snugged.
