Amp/ Wiring(head unit to amp/amp to speakers). Just because the lights are on doesn't mean it works. The head unit could still be bad.

Well it's connected correctly in the back of the head unit the guy who I bought it from said it worked before he got a jump start from some one the steering wheel controls work fine but the volume knob acts wonky. I don't know how to check the amp to speaker wiring or amp to head unit but if it's the amp wouldn't the speakers just be quieter

I had the same issue. My situtation ended up being a bad rear window speaker. Was shorting some how, It had burned speaker wire connectors. When I unplugged the speaker radio started working fine. Check your speaker connections.

Yea I looked back there only to find that the previous owner had cut the wires to that speaker so it will probably never work again but thanks for the Idea I will check all my speakers to see if there connected.
