Default rain sensitive wipers 2000 model xjr

hi does anyone know how the rain sensitive wipers work on an xjr 2000 model

how do i test if it works or not? is there a certain position the stalk or switch has to be in??

I presume its the same as on mine...but if you move your stalk up one click, then set the dial on the stalk to AUTO, the sensor will wait for a drop, or whatever to set it off. To test... do the above, then run your hand in front of the mirror outside...that's where the sensor is. If she wipes your hand, it works...try not to let it scare ya!

Or do the same as H20 Boy said, but drop some water on it! Mine works great on my 01, it though harsh bumps and certain shadows can set it off!

Good to know that someone else has that problem. I have also found that I inadvertently turn the wipers on while starting the car, so even when I think the wipers are off I hit a bump and there they go.
