Bought some Harbor Freight ramps a few weeks back to investigate what appears to be a slight coolant leak and, of course, the VDP is too low to the ground for them so I made some ramp extensions. They work just fine.
The "new" water pump is weeping from behind the pulley.

Those are the ramps I don't trust, I use a molded plastic set with honey combed reinforcement, ....but the extensions are a good idea.
As for your water pump issue, I found my new one weeping after I did my tensioners a few years back. I removed it and a light coat of permatec resolved that.
