Default Yummy

Hi Paul

Yes, they're gorgeous. I saw an XJR100 for sale here in San Jose, CA recently for 13kUSD. If I didn't already have a 2000 XJR (and a "project" XJS V12 Conv) I would had rushed out and bought it on the spot.

The big thing about the XJR100 here in the US is that it has the black chrome around the windows, wheras the standard XJRs have chrome (unlike in the UK where the standard XJRs and even XJ Sports have black chrome)

The interior is also pretty special too.... only black with red stitching on all panels.

I think the 100s had the brembo big brake kit as standard here, and I hear thats a real expensive set up to replace.

I'm pretty sure the XJR100's for the US market still had the regular chrome window surrounds and leaper. The black powdered molding were for European markets only and of course no leaper.

Default Hmmm

Here is a picture from MotorTrend magazine when they did a write up about the XJR 100. Also I could have sworn the XJR 100 we received at our dealership had chrome window moldings.

haha, we could be here for a while !

I think that pic is a standard XJR with the big wheel (5 spokes)/big brake (brembo) upgrade.

Anyway, I think we're all agreed it's a great car

LOL. I agree the pic can be what you stated, and my memory is probably failing me, but I remember when our Jag store got two XJR100's and one XKR100's. I faintly remembering getting a memo from Jag NA saying there was a problem with the black powdering process in the UK and US XJR100's were going to get the chrome moldings.

Now I remember even one customer who had pre-ordered one complaining about that. It's starting to come back from 7 long years ago.

I own a Canadian destined XJR 100. It has the black moulding around the window and the leaper on the hood.

I currently have one of the anniversary Jaguar XJR100's as well....... that I happen to be selling. 45,000 kms on it. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. If anyone is interested... just post me. I will be uploading some pics as soon as I'm out of 3 day/10 post introductory period.

I'm rebuilding mine. It's a UK right hand drive version. There were 85 odd made.

After 8 years of salted roads in the winter, rust was an issue I didn't expect. Areas included the lower corners of the rear screen, under the wiper arm also had a hole. Underneath looked like it was shotblasted. It'd had a hard life, being owned by a banker who did over 100k miles in it.
It's now on a new bodyshell from Jaguar. Everything is rebuilt. I've considered every nut and bolt on the car. Value with upgrades? I'm insuring it for list price when new. Why not, it's unique. In fact I'm calling it an XJR 100 'S'. I'll be updating my garage when back from paint in a couple of weeks. It's close to completion. Got a senior electrical engineer coming from Jaguar to inspect it and run the IDS this weekend.

Hi Sean I hope that you have a whole album of pics of the rebuild for us to drool over.

Be sure to post some directly into the thread, not everyone remembers to look into the garage. (read, yours truly).

I shudder to think what a new body shell rebuild, must run to, but you will have a great car, once finished.
