Default Rear lights turn off when indicating right

Hi there, I apologise if this has already been asked, but I have searched for a solution to this already to no avail.

Indicating left causes no issues, but when I indicate right the dashboard lights are affected (stereo lights become brighter, instruments dim) and the rear lights go out. The indicators are all working and the rest of the lights are all working. The rear lights go off completely (apart from the indicators) and come back on when the indicators are turned off.

Any suggestions as to what the cause may be, or where to look first would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I am downloading the service manual so I can check up on what I am needing to do with this. Hopefully checking electrical connections will be covered.

If the grounds look good; the next thing I'd check would be the turn signal stalk in the column. There is a surprising number of wires attached there, including the dimmer circuit for the dashboard. A broken wire OR a wire worn through touching a adjacent wire will do strange things.
Let us know what you find.

Having checked up on my other issue (auto headlights not working) it appears that the two problems may be connected (in that a couple of wires might not be). I will hopefully get chance to take a gander this evening and shall report back!

Thanks for the help.

Yes, my local garage had a jaguar mechanic come out. it was a loose wire within the indicator stalk that kept shorting everything when you push the stalk in one direction. it needs resoldering or a new wire running through which is what he did to mine. It cost about 200 due to getting a guy out specially.
