Not crazy about the new style of spray paint nozzle here as it seems harder to maintain a consistent spray , but they're still far better off than before lol.

This was one of the first things I did to my interior. The plastics on the center console were still nice and black but the door handles were faded gray and scuffed up, gross looking. After cleaning them up, I used Krylon Fusion SATIN Black. Let them dry for 48 hours before putting them back in, even though they dry pretty quick. Now it looks like a stock plastic trim piece with a nice black color. It is not glossy to the point where it looks like the piece is painted...and it isn't matte either. It is a nice medium...plus the Krylon Fusion paint is made specifically for plastics and has great chip resistance. Haven't had any issues with a few months of use already.
I had faded grey looking black plastic on the rear of a Lotus Elan, was going to paint with Fusion satin black, and I cleaned it with SEM vinyl prep cleaner, it took the grey off and turned it black, looks original, no paint needed.
Since I sent my interior wood off for refurbishment I am going to tackle this at the same time. A while back I was able to temporarily restore the black finish with maquires back to black but after about 5 mths the effect wore off. I am wanting something more permanent so going to try painting. I just hope the paint sticks and doesn't flake off over time.

1.5 years in, mine's still pristine. The key is proper adhesion which is achieved through de-greasing/cleaning. I used Dawn,white vinegar & rubbing alcohol.

King Charles, I bought the ones from Mina awhile ago and I love the look. I just picked my baby up from the shop where she got her hood, both bumpers, the back of the side mirrors and the door handles surround repainted. They match the color perfectly and she looks fantastic! Here some pics I just took at the shop where you can see the chrome covers.

Looking sharp ! Mine's in paint right now as well, hood & roof lol.
I used flat black when I did this, but I've since decided it's too flat. It's ok for now, but if I'm ever in the mood I'll experiment with satin or semi gloss.
Would straight gloss be tacky ?
Wood or carbon fiber would be nice.
I think it would look too tacky in my car because none of the other black plastic pieces are glossy. But the flat black I used is definitely too flat, so the answer is probably somewhere in between, like most things in life...
