Default Removing 98 XJR Motor from transmission?

Does the flex plate and torque converter have a spline that attached them, or is there a set of bolts?

I ask because the bell housing is 360 degrees and there is no way to get in there.

Does the engine need to go forward a few inches to disengage from the transmission?

Do the 90 degree exhaust elbows from the exhaust pipes to the manifolds need to be disconnected, or can the manifold connection accessible from top enough?

Held in by bolts from under neath there is a little opening ,black rubber piece has to be removed from the engine side then when u turn the engine you will see the bolts .. Cats have to be disconnected from the top 4 nuts and the bracket from the trani .

Thanks man. Ended up taking it out like a Chrysler, popped radiator/condenser and took her out the front. lol. along with the torque converter and 7 quarts of fluid. when i got it out I said oh, yeha the cover.

got it to the shop and and all apart etc. Still had the plastic tensioners for guides. They guy i bought it from was a lying sack of shiat, told me had them replaced, took picutres and asked him if he wanted to get together to speak more about it, no response yet from email from him.

being rebuilt by Brother in law at Precision Auto in Ct. we got as far as the heads on the block. It is on tight man, wacked it with a rubbeer mallet uhhg. going back this weekend to battle with it.

Do you know if any one sells a {Kit] for hoses for this motor, The Coolant hoses/breather hoses under and around the Super charger are just thin and etc and I am junking them,.

Thanks for Your response

You most likely damaged the front pump seal on the trans by yanking the tork converter with the engine.
If it bound, you may also have damaged the input shaft and/or the converter itself.

Just make absolutely certain you get the converter "seated" fully into the front pump, or timing chain tensioners are the least of you problems.

Know a guy who didn't, took the main thrusts out of the block.

He may have replaced the guides with plastic.
There were....two types of plastic ones (one "improved") before the metal ones became available.

Heads:

Don't know about that engine, but on the inlines, sometimes you have to pull the studs to get the head off.

Corrosion will lock it.

Make sure any small bolts at the end are out before you snap something expensive.
