Default Removing trim on sliding roof

A friend of mine has just bought a very nice 1998 Daimler. Very nice car, in many ways identical (technically) to my own 2003 XJR.

We want to adjust the sliding roof; it leaks, and it doesn’t sit flush with the roof. I have the 1998 workshop manual, and it has a procedure for the removal and alignment. However, you need to remove the trim on the inside. The manual refers to two procedures, as I can see, 501-17 and 76-82-19.

Can't seem to find them either in the workshop manual. Does anybody have these procedures or know how to remove the trim from the sliding roof?

Thanks

Jeroen

You really don’t need to remove the trim panel.
You want to look at TSB 13-34.
Removing the trim is only to give you access to the location where you place the 8mm drill, and you really don’t need to do that.
This is simply the fully shut location, and you can see when it is shut.
Use a stright edge on the roof if you need to whilst manually adjusting the motor.

Once it is properly shut, then take the control module and align the dots.

Its not to hard, but be careful at step 7

Many thanks! Successfully removed the trim. Re-alligned the sun roof and put everything back together. Roofline is all nice and flush!

That's great news and we are sure it feels better knowing the rain is kept at bay.
