Is the instrument cluster linked to the control modules? I know in some cars if you switch the cluster the cars will not run. I think this is to prevent odometer fraund.

 

The 4.0 engine cars (X100/X308) can use a replacement INSTPK without any configuration.(VCATS part number and suffix match is recommended)
The ODO will follow the INSTPK, not the car.

The 4.2 engine cars have a VID block and that is where things get complicated!!!!!!!!!!

 

so im finding out. The front parking aid uses the speaker in the instrument panel and I noticed that mine wasn’t working the other day in my 06 STR. Then I noticed I didn’t have any chimes or ticks or other tones coming from my car for anything. No door open chime no lights on chime no tick tick tick when I used to turn signal.. So I

I took out the instrument panel to try to fix the speaker problem hoping that it was just a bad solder joint but after soldering its it’s still silent

I have another 06 s type for a parts car but it’s not an STR and I was going to replace the instrument panel with the one from the non str parts car but due to the fact the instrument panel is a major gateway between several of the buses and all of the modules I was hesitant to do so.

once I figure out what the ramifications are swapping in this used instrument panel from a non-STR I may give it a try.

Any suggestions?
