Hopefully, they will still fit right and stay on.
The clear lenses with the plastic tabs on the sides won't work, those are the same as the interior lights for the trunk. (Remember I said I had a pair I would sell because they would not work in this application?)

You have to remove the plastic tabs on the sides to get them to fit into the fender opening and then there is nothing left to hold them in place.

You need the metal clips to hold them in the fender. Although some have made do with a heavy dose of silicone adhesive (?Arrrrgg!)

BTW, if you do get clear lenses to fit you can get bulbs that appear clear but shine amber so you won't get the fried egg look from an amber bulb behind a clear lense. Amber is also required by law in some police/nanny states, er, I mean localities.

Try a google search of #LNA4812AB ..... There are some new ones on ebay. The old one may have the plug and clip.

Little late to the party so not sure what you've found or where you are at.

I took my 98 (originally a Southern US car bought in Tx) to the UK in 2002 when I worked there & on the continent for a bit.

To pass the UK MOT the lamps were required so I bought them from a dealer (can get the p/n if needed, but I think you know it).

Both sides were wired & installation was 10 minutes as it was merely a matter of removing the jag insert, plugging in the harness & inserting the lamps. They came with the clips.

Unfortunately as others have said, the drivers side has no wiring present, just the badge. The passenger has the wiring and bulb holder connected to the inside of the badge, even though it cant actually give out light since the badge is solid, not clear. Now that I have the part numbers, I looked them up and brand new theyre crazy expensive. Im thinking of ordering a set used on Ebay, then using the wiring/bulb harness from the ones I did get with the new amber ones. This will certainly require work on the drivers side if I want them to light up as there are no wires present there that I can see.

have you looked to be sure the left side hasn't fallen out of sight? I definitely had the harness on both side on mine.

And your car was originally a North American version, right? I can to dig around in there with an LED and see if perhaps it has fallen out and is just hanging. When I saw it wasnt there and other folks here talked about having to manually with the light to your turn signals by removing the wheel and wheel fender lining, I just figured that thats the way it is.

Its not there, take my word for it. Your Canadian model probably was shipped to British specs with the wiring for the left side included in the harness, US models don't have the wiring on the left.

US Spec car. October 97 build, so early in the model year run. Leased / purchased in Dallas when working there & shipped to the UK when I worked there for a year before moving to Canada.

Harness was clipped inside the fender on both sides & able to be accessed from the cut-out.

Perhaps mine was built with a harness later modified on cars sent to NA?

my US 98 VDP does not have the wiring on the left side. Just on the right side.

The right side harness on my car and most cars I have heard about was clipped to the leaper in the back. There is a male flange on the leaper the same as on the side marker that receives the plug. If it was present on the left, they would clip it to the leaper there too, don't you think?

They have LNA 4812 stamped on them. Those fit. They are missing the light socket though.

Lear is correct, you will still need the socket with wires and bulbs.

Just finished adding side marker lights to my cat., 2002 XJ8. As mentioned in earlier threads the rt side was factory wired so only had to plug in light assy. The lights I purchased from ebay had pig tail wiring to connect to left harness I made. I used 8' of #18 wire for harness and enclosed wire in plastic wire flex tubing I bought at Harbor Freight. Looked like it was factory installed. It was a 2 hour job and feel safer when changing lanes on the motor way. Thanks for all previous threads!
