Due to some nikasil issues '98-00 Jags might be a trouble . However not all of them , engine # should verify this
If you have more money to spend on a Jag then you should go for 03ish VDP .You can find VDP Supercharges all the years

haha do your research dude, seriously. Nobody seems to do real research before purchasing a vehicle anymore, sad stuff! You'd easily know you dont want anything to do with this x308 model, nothing but trouble. Timing System a complete bust on all those models. Nikasil is the least of your worries bud! (thus why they are so cheap now)

As well, this site went to POO i must admit the real techs stopped posting so eh, youre out of luck dude. goodluck hah

If we all had your mentality then what would be the point of having this site? People come here to get first hand advice from people who drive these cars everyday and know the in's and out's of them as opposed to the average consumer who doesn't even know how to change their own oil. I see nothing wrong with that...

OP:
Regarding the X308 Jags. The problems aren't as bad as the other tool might think. I have a 98 XJR, original Nikasil engine @ 124,xxx miles with no issues to date. A lot of trouble can be avoided by doing some preventive maintenance like changing out timing chain tensioners and guides for updated units to aviod blowing up the engine. Keep your eye out for coolant leaks! These engines do not withstand overheating well at all. Other than that, you'll have issues like any other high end European car making your siutation quite normal in comparison.

Also, there are still a handful of tech's that contribute to this site multiple times a day and are not hard to get in touch with.
