Retrofitting heated windscreen
Dear all,
as mentioned in another thread here, the preowner of my XJR installed a heated windscreen, but didn't go any further.
Some days ago, I installed a used harness (e**y). Since the workshop manual says
Question 1) Does the air conditioning control module (ACCM) need to be reprogrammed for the heated windscreen?
OR
Question 2) By any chance, does anybody know if the standard climate control panel (with no extra heated windscreen button) will send the signal to the ACCM to turn on the heated windscreen? Since the communication between the control panel and the ACCM is realised via a serial data communications link, this questions pops into my mind.
Thanks for your help, Alex

Some days ago, I installed a used harness (e**y). Since the workshop manual says
"Defrost: Push-on push-off button, which when engaged will direct all air to the front and side glass at maximum fan speed. The heated windshield (if fitted) will also be energized for a timed cycle of 6,5 minutes, but may be cancelled by pressing the HEATED WINDSHIELD (F) button. Pressing 'DEF' again will return to the last setting with automatic temperature control being maintained."
I tried doing so but the windscreen didn't work. Today, I measured the voltage at the connectors to the windscreen with "DEFROST"-Mode ON - but nothing.Question 1) Does the air conditioning control module (ACCM) need to be reprogrammed for the heated windscreen?

Hi ericjansen,
yes, checked and ok.
My thougt was to go with the standard panel and use the "Defrost"-button for activating the windscreen heater, since I do not need a separate button for it.
Cheers, Alexander
