Location of EMS bulkhead ground stud
Hi to all,
Since the preowner of my car retrofitted the heated windscreen but didn't install the windscreen heater harness, I did that today. I found the harness connector hidden behind the throttle body, but I couldn't find the ground stud.
The electrical guide says, that the harness should be connected to the "EMS BULKHEAD GROUND STUD". Can anybody tell me, where I can find its location or mark it on my pictures? Or do you have other ideas, where to connect the eyelet instead?
And do you know, where the relays are attached to?
Thank you very much!
Best regards, Alexander

I have attached a sheet showing the XJ8 ground points. The EMS is in the center of the engine compartment bulkhead. It is not necessarily a stud. Look for a fastener bolted to the bulkhead with wires on it.
Hi avern1,
thanks very much for your info. I found that particular figure in the electrical guide as well, but I didn't manage to locate the ground stud anyway since it's very cramped behind the throttle body.
Other ideas? Maybe it's hidden behind the wiper motor assembly?
Cheers, Alexander

GOT IT!
I had to remove the purge valve in the engine compartment (see figure 3). Below this the ground stud is located (figure 1). To attach the relays of the heated windscreen harness you'll find a retaining plate on top of the transmission bell housing (figure 2).
Cheers, Alexander
