Default Rough morning idle

I have been experiencing rough idling every morning for some time now. After driving for 5-10 miles, the car starts, runs and idles just fine at every stop and go throughout the day.
Now I have the check engine light and an occasional restricted performance warning that comes and goes as I drive.
I did resets the codes after cleaning the throttle body, replacing the valve cover gaskets and spark plugs and the full load breather hose. Also new air filter and cleaned the MAFS.
I am getting some exhaust fumes initially after first start. Could I need the gaskets replaced on the exhaust manifold? Fuel injection cleaning?
Any ideas from this wonderful forum would be greatly appreciated !

Have the codes read before you throw any more parts at it. An auto parts store should do so for free, then report the actual codes here, not their interpretation.

I should have included that info, apologies.
I had the codes read about a month ago, and P0174 was present. It was at this time I replaced the full load breather hose and cleaned the throttle body. Reset the code by disconnecting negative battery cable and touched to positive.
After three weeks of same rough idle in the morning, went and had codes read again. Only code at that time was P0444, and there was no check engine light or restricted performance at the time.
Those warning lights have just started within the last week.

Are you sure it is code P0444? That would indicate that the electrical circuit to the Evap control valve is open circuit. Not likely to cause a engine miss! Did you forget to hook up the connector while you were messing with the breathers?

I did have the code P0444 a few weeks ago, but after resetting the ecu, it's gone. Or at least it didn't show up today when I had them read at auto zone. Thanks!

The codes are contradictory, P0171 = System too lean (Bank 1), P0172 = System too rich (Bank 1)......?

Well, it is almost certainly either an air leak (probable), or a low fuel pressure problem (less likely). Have another look at the part and full load breathers and the rest of the intake plenum. I had these codes after screwing up the installation of the harmonic damper and buggering the front main seal, but that is not likely your problem. If looking fails, borrow, build, or a smoke machine to find the leak.

Also check the rubber gasket that seals the intake pipe to the throttle body. There have been a couple of cases where it was damaged on assembly after cleaning the TB.

Many thanks to all! The print out at auto zone said replace or clean the mass air flow sensor....I just cleaned it two weeks ago, any way that my MAFS could be faulty? Is there a way to test it?
I did wonder if I got the intake back on to the throttle body correctly, it was hard to fit it back together so I kind of depended on the bolts to pull the intake down over the rubber seal. Is there a lubricant that would help ease the two back together?

Remove the inlet trunk and check it very carefully for cracks; also the resonator(tubular piece near throttle body) can crack at the joint. IIRC, I usually put the rubber seal on the throttle body first.

light silicon coating helps; but care and patience works better! Check to assure you have not crimped any of the electrical connectors; check the tube for breaks as Pete noted, above, reclean the MAF (needs to be bright); I used to run a can of cleaner in the gas (SeaFoam or Lucas, or Gumout equivalent) when I had these on my Range Rover.

Been useful to know what your long term fuel trims were. I would look to air leaks at the cam covers, spark plug seals. Double check the torque on the plugs. Essentially, review all the work you have done.
