Default Seems like a good buy

I was I were closer and would not be risking a divorce if it "followed" me home.

2001 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas supercharged v8, completely loaded 160k miles

Relatively rare, I think there were only about 500 made in all years of production.

From the ad "this car does run and drive great But does deed a new mass airflow sensor it is causing the car to have restricted performance above 3k RPM. When it is driven normally it is perfectly fine. The clear coat is also fading."

How do you drive a supercharged Jag "normally?" Lol!

For the $2000 asking price it is worth figuring out what is causing the RP. But I always wonder why folks don't fix stuff like this before they sell a car, makes me think the owner threw his hands up and said, "Just sell the damn thing."

True, if were an even playing field, there would not be "good buys". I've also wondered why everyone doesn't have an OBDII reader before they try to diagnose a problem.

that's exactly what they are doing. My favorites are "easy fix". (Then just fix it) or A/C just needs charge (then just charge it) if they were simply "easy" "cheap" or "rechargeable" the average person would do them. The most popular is "highway miles". I've yet to see someone put in their advert "all stop and go city miles"!

My favourite was "excellent pre-accident condition" on a car with a major front impact.

I thought s/c VDP was only euro market? USA only got the super v8 in 03? In either case i guess you can't really go wrong.

It seems like "easy fix" is code for owners being cheap with maintenance in general, and thinking the phrase makes cars sell better when in fact doing the opposite. Even better when a dealer says that when trying to sell a car.

My favorite meaningless claim is "well-maintained". I looked at a lot of XJRs early this year and they all claimed to be well maintained cars.

I think the definition of well-maintained for many people is they would always put gas in the car when it got low. The fuel level was always well maintained....

Seriously though, I am not an angry man by nature, but I wanted to slug a couple of people who convinced me to drive a long distance to see a well maintained car that was low on oil, leaking in various places, paint oxidized and waxless, tires bald, coolant is green in color and leaking, power steering fluid & brake fluid & transmission fluid BLACK... etc etc etc. I am not kidding, that was some people's definition of well-maintained.

eh.. I'd rather have the red one that was up for sale on eBay recently. Actually, that's the second time it's been for sale. I guess the first buyer must have backed out. Weren't you the one that thought about bidding on that one but decided against it in the end?

That one certainly seemed in better shape than the one shown in this thread.
