Shifter linkage...

Are the shifter linkage (parts) the same for the XJ8 and The XJR?

The XJ8 if i remember correctly is a BMW transmission and the XJR is a Mercedes transmission.
The parts catalog lists 2 separate part numbers so it is unlikely they are interchangeable.
4.0 Litre Supercharged MNE4830BB 1
3.2 & 4.0 Litre Naturally Aspirated MNE4830AB 1
