I am a new member and have just purchased my first jaguar. It is a 1998 XJ8 and needs a little work. The first project I took on was replacing the cab to the drivers front door handle. Unfortunately I think I messed up the sunroof when I fixed the door handle. As I was removing the latch mechanism I pulled it down to clear the window channel. I heard a click and noticed the sunroof had opened about an inch. After I got it back together the sunroof will not close all the way. It stays about 1/2 way open. I can use the button to close it but it will only stay closed a few seconds and then go back to the 1/2 open position. I have read about the synch operation on newer X type and am hoping there is one for XJ. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I learned today that the prior owner knew about a faulty thermostat and cracked thermostat housing right before the car was sold to me. Both were replaced before I received the car. I was also told that the addition of coolant into the system was not as detailed above, and so a technician with Jaguar experience is now taking a look. I wonder if there was a technical problem with the installation of the afore-mentioned hardware? Again, I have a hard time believing that this much coolant could be lost merely from 'standard' addition of coolant. I will keep you posted. Many thanks.

Also this Sun Roof posting should not have been posted in this Low Coolant thread.
I am not trying to be critical, I am just trying to advise you on how to post and find information on the forum.
