Snapped Radio Antenna Mast
Hello!
When I bought my XJ8-L 2000 the grandmother who owned it previously had snapped the radio antenna mast on her garage. Funny enough the radio (FM) still works pretty well and the (AM) is spotty. I wanted to replace the mast and I saw there is a replacement sold on Ebay found here. I guess my question is 1) Do you think it's a terribly difficult DIY repair 2) should I replace the whole unit or is just the mast sufficient?
Let me know your thoughts thank you,

I found that you don't really need to dissemble the antennae to replace the mast.
You can remove the broken stem from the top after unscrewing the retaining nut.
Then you just thread the plastic insert into the new mast (with the radio on, mast
extended) and reassemble. Works like new.

I recently took the antenna motor unit apart as my antenna got stuck. Not too big a job.
