My speedometer in the 01 XJ8 one day works, next day doesn't. Has just started playing up like this over the last week. My ABS unit is out for repair but the speedo worked for sometime after removal. I suspect the VSS, JLM11251. Anybody have experience here?

 

I believe the part you are referencing is involved in controlling the transmission. The speedometer receives it signal, if memory serves me, from the left rear wheel speed sensor. I would recommend removing and cleaning the sensors for all wheels and while doing it inspect the relucter rings for excessive corrosion.

 

so is this car has no ABS module in it?

 

i have the bad module in it.
