Steering Rack R&I
Hi
This Steering Rack Removal & Install thread came about in reponse to a new thread asking for tips on replacing starter motor.
The JTIS21 Jaguar shop repair manual says to remove the Steering Rack to gain access to the starting motor.
Here is the Steering Rack instructions and illustrations I extracted from the shop repair manual (I also included the parts description & illustration from the JEPC - Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog):
XJ (X308) Steering Gear R&I 57.10.01.pdf
You will also need Steering Rack Bushing R&I (called in the Steering Rack R&I):
XJ (X308) Steering Gear Bushing R&I 57.10.30.pdf
and Power Steering System Bleeding & Filling:
XJ (X308) Power Steering System Filling & Bleeding.pdf
and Front Toe Adjustment:
XJ (X308) Front Toe Adjustment.pdf
I started another thread for the Starting Motor R&I.

Cool! Fortunately, I was able to change the starter without removing the steering rack. One of the bolts does kinda suck though. Thank goodness for my 1/2" half-moon wrench! The only time I have ever needed one, lol!
