Finally got my car running and while listen to the radio I noticed the text in the screen begin to fade and then the sound was gone. I could still power it on and off the stereo (lights go on and off) but no text. Switching modes did nothing. Few minutes later the text and music would come back like nothing ever happened. 5 minutes later it shuts down again. Any ideas? I'd really like to keep this head unit because it just looks right and sounds AMAZING.

This is the area where very little DIY can happen. Opening the radio, and checking the components, is a whole different area of expertise. You might not get many answers on this.

Radio's are CHEAP (very little demand for them on Ebay/junkyards/Craigslist). Buy another one for less than 100 bucks, and stick it in (easy to do). Anyway,.....that's what I would do.

 

Sigh..... I was really hoping to keep the head unit but I think I should just upgrade to a modern. Thanks for the help.
