Thanks. Since the time of the original installation, I swapped the Alpine 007 for an Alpine 107. It looks exactly the same, but the 107 has wireless CarPlay, which I really like. I also blew the JBL sub, so I modified the sub box and installed a Kicker solo baric sub. The amp was a little too powerful for the JBL sub, but it works good with the Kicker. Here’s a picture. The Kicker is bigger and doesn’t look quite as tidy as the JBL did, but it sounds better. I made the grille with some quarter-round trim and speaker cloth. The Kicker sub had a gaudy grille that looked out of place, so that’s why I made the custom cover. It looks more subtle, which is what I was after.

 

Not as neat yet but after some adjustments and rebuilding of surround hopefully as good as yours

 

Ok, this is kinda what I'm looking for. but in 2024 style. suggestions? Have a very decent (excellent) XJ8 with 60k on the clock. the touch screen head unit is the only thing I want to upgrade. other than that, shes a 10/10
