Default sticky seat heater button

Ok, this is weird- I have the all weather package with the heated rear seats, and the drivers side button sticks when it is on-but only if it is mounted!- I took the little console apart and popped the switch out and it worked fine- put it back in and it sticks! anyone have any suggestions? thanks!

Cool Removal-Repair of the Rear Seat Heater Switch

I had the same problem.
Attributed to aggressive button pushing by 14-yr-old football players.
I found that the COMPLETE removal and separation of the switch components allowed proper re-seating of the button spring mechanism.

Attached is a PDF of the pictures in the 4-step removal process.

Thanks shw57 for the switch removal instructions. I have 3 XJ's that all have rear seat heater buttons that stick in the "on" position. I disassembled as per your pictures and found that the switch retainer clips, if not released from the mounting cut out, squeeze the sides of the switch and cause the button to bind. I carefully ground down the ends of the clips slightly (I don't know if that is necessary), reinstalled switch in cut out, and pried the clips away from switch to release them from the cut out hole. This releasing of the clip ends eliminated the squeeze on the switch housing a now the buttons function perfectly. Thanks, again.
