Default Strange beeping..revisited

I'm going to throw this out there again, I thought I could live with it, but ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY!
When I start my 98 XJ8, or even turn the ignition to the on position...
I get 5 beeps, five consecutive times with a short pause in between each series of 5 beeps. Total of 25 beeps.
Sounds like it's coming from the drivers side of the dash.
This occurs AGAIN after driving for about 30 miles.
Then it seems random.
But it's doing this every time I start the car, or turn the ignition to the on position.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?
The car seems fine.

have you checked the codes stored in the climate control module? https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nfo-faq-66454/

I checked them about a year ago and cleared them. Looked again several months ago and there were no codes, so yes, to answer your question, but I'm nor sure where to go from here.
I will check to see if there are new codes.
Thank you for your help!

My brother had this on his -98 Daimler... least to say, he almost got insane too. From what i can remember, its a audio warning that reminds you that the warning light bulb for airbag has died.

Check the "98 XJ8 Technical Guide" at jagrepair.com

You have the full explanation at page 102.

To get rid of warning, replace faulty bulb, ie. intrument cluster out.

Well, the warning light is not coming on when I first start the car, so it must be burned out like you said. Do you, or anyone following this, know of a way to disable the actual "beep"? I hate the prospect of repairing one bulb in an otherwise working cluster.

Carfully pull the wooden facia straight out.. it only sits in a few metal clips, remove cluster, if you dont have a lamp awaible.. swap the lamp out with something else... maybe the park brake warning light.. or hi/lo beam will fit..
Even though its annoying.. its a safety feature!

The wood panel comes out easily by pulling - I hook my fingers on the insides of the outer edges of the circles (so, furthest left and furthest right points) and just pull. You'll need to remove the two circular button modules (fog lights and trip buttons) they are just snapped in, then undo their harnesses, then 4 screws and 2 big harnesses will free the cluster. The cluster is one of the places in the car where the backlights actually use easily available bulbs.

Okay, last question....and I really do appreciate everyone's advise and input on this!!
Do you know if that particular bulb (airbag warning light) is soldered directly on to the circuit board, or is it a twist our, or pop out type situation?

Its an pop in pop out.. sort of... any well sorted gasstation should have it... ie. its not a Jaguar specific one

Great. I don't mind soldering, but didn't want to have to get all the way to the circuit board if possible. Thanks a million!

I actually clipped the speaker wire in the steering column as a temp fix much quieter ride now but no ts signal tic toc either. I found the signal box to it in the wiring diagrams and plan to see which signal powers up when it beeps and trace it from there. its driven me crazy since I bought the car. such a relief to silence it finally. but be aware that you get no other audible warnings so just keep a close eye on things

Thanks to all, I am actually traveling right now with the car. Drive over 400 miles today and it did its beeping thing about every 30-45 min. so I've had just about enough!!
I didn't have time to address the bulb prior to my trip, so not sure about that approach just yet. I'm going to take a look when I return home later in the week.
As for disabling the beeping sound via cutting that wire, thank you for the suggestion. I had thought about trying to trace that down and disable it, before I just super glued a pair of earbuds in my ears. Lol, anyway, I may go that route if I can not solve the bulb issue.

its simple really a phillips head screwdriver to the bottom of the steering column drop the cover theres a speaker right under the ignition switch I left enough room on both sides of the cut to solder back together when I figure it out. ten minutes really quiet ride. safe travels to ya and good luck

I haven't experienced any beeping yet, but I have noticed a random high pitched sound that comes from somewhere. I first noticed it while cruising real slow through heavy downtown traffic. The radio volume was down low and suddenly I hear this high pitch Mmmm. sound. I thought it may have been because I had my hand on the gear selector so I removed my hand from it that didn't make it stop. It's done this several times for no apparent reason. Please help.
