Default Stupid noob question - Oil

I know what you are thinking and yes, I did try to search, however the search engine ignores 3 letter words.

Quick question, is there a special type of oil Jaguar suggests for use in an x308? In my other cars, I have used Rotella T "Synthetic" (blue bottle) with much success. My wife's Saab requires some crazy BS expensive stuff, I just want to make sure I don't have to do the same for this one.

Also, how much do I need to get?

Ohh, one more Q.

Is there a service required computer/tracker I need to reset?

No special oil - synthetic preferred by many but not all; Jaguar specifies synthetic for Mexico. No service reminder indicator. Why not get an owners manual, eh? :-)

I would go with "Mobil One " synthetic. You need 2 jugs. In Canada they are 4.4 litres. I think the car holds about 7 litres, however that is for an XJR. XJ8 may take less depending on whether or not you have oil coolers, etc. 2 jugs will be more than enough. One jug, probably not enough. Take care not to over fill.

I use Castrol Magnatec 10/40 in my car and it runs very smoothly indeed. I think it took 8 Litres (UK) but the engine naturally consumes oil so does require the odd top up. The oil change on these cars is one of the easiest in the whole world I think. My old Ford Fiesta was more complicated than this car. S.
