Default Tech help please - electrical

It's the idiot doing the XJR to Mark 2 transplant, again. I had to extend the main XJR engine harness 24" in order to use the ventilated box that houses the engine ecu, relays and cooling fan in the Mark 2. Splicing the 105 single wires was no problem, but I ran across about a dozen cable bundles with 1, 2 and 3 wires that are sheathed with woven copper wire - I'm assuming this is to shield the leads from electrical interference. After splicing and heat shrinking the wires I simply soldered the sheathing together for continuity, wrapped the spliced area with a few layers of aluminum foil and heat shrunk over the foil. Does anyone know if this will provide sufficient shielding? I'd hate to fire up the beast to a bunch of fault codes.

Also, while organizing parts recently I knocked the air bag actuator on the garage floor. I have no clue how these operate and I'm wondering if I need to replace the unit to be safe. I'd hate to fire up the beast to a couple of air bags deploying - worse than fault codes!

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Your shielding repair should be fine, and the airbag will be ok too, it won't set off the bags.
