Tensioners and dodgy metal.

Hello all.
I'm new to the forum but I've read many of the postings particulary about the tesioners and a metal in the engine of XJ8s that causes problems but I can't remember the name.
Anyway, here's my question. Was there a time during the production cycle of the XJ8 (98 to 03) that Jaguar (Ford) fixed the problems? I'm looking at a 2003 XJ8 VDP with 80,000 miles on it and I'm hoping these problems were fixed by the last year of production.
If not, I'd love to have someone "run the VIN" for me to see if a previous owner had the work done. Any ideas?
Thank you for any help or advise.

An '03 XJ8 is an excellent car, with the prevous problem areas of timing chain tensioners and Nikasil plated engine bores corrected long before. Buy it and enjoy.
Not clearcut by model year but by engine number. Later '01 onwardhas no Nikasil concerns, most if not all '02 will have upgraded tensioners. You're quite welocomed, and good hunting!
Best available numbers :
Last Nikasil 00 08 18, stamped at LH side base of thermostat housing
First updated timing chain/ tensioner installation 01 08 13 (A. Voss, Belgium). Stamped on vertical rib, LH side of engine block. The VIN only helps if you can run it to find the engine number, and compare it with those dates.
