Default Thermostat

can anyone tell me where exactly the thermostat is on a 98xjr? im new to jags and am no pro mechanic, but my jag that i bought a few days ago started to over heat. Im hoping its the thermostat and im getting the part later today. anyone have any tips ,suggestions on changing out the thermo. They would be greatly apprecieted. thnx

hey thnx alot. i changed it and it still overheated, took out the water pump and the blades were shreded. Looks like the problem was there lol. Gonna try to pick up a water pump this week sometime. I really appreciate the response. definetly helped. thnx again.

water pump is only about $60 from dealer. Updated design with very low failure rate.

make sure you flush the system real good and use the correct coolant

Ya the pump is in, and she's staying cool. I was told i could use that prestone coolant that mixes with any color. Should i not?

personally i dont like the idea of mixing coolants
ive always used what was called for
ive seen to many end results of mixed and contaminatedcoolant
just my sincere opinion

Drain the radiator. Refer to General Procedures. Retain the coolant drain tray in position to catch any spillage when removing the outlet pipe.







stepNum(0);

3
if(DanaFlushWrite) DanaFlushWrite();

.
Disconnect the bottom hose from the coolant outlet pipe.




1)
Release and reposition the hose clip.




2)
Disconnect the bottom hose.










stepNum(0);

4
if(DanaFlushWrite) DanaFlushWrite();

.
Remove the thermostat from the outlet pipe.




1)
Remove the three bolts which secure the thermostat cover to the outlet pipe.




2)
Remove the thermostat cover, the thermostat and the seal from the outlet pipe. Discard the seal.
