Throttle Body

Own an 01' XJ8L only 55,000 miles. Jag dealer says code for throttle ybody need new one. $1900.Tried to use throttle body spray vehicle still goes into fail safe mode after driving for 25 minutes. Any suggestions on reparing throttle body, using a used one etc.. or could there be a problem with the fuel pump/filter that causes engine to go into fail safe mode?

it needs a throttle body the problem isn't the butterfly sticking .. it's the pedal position codes .. which is the sensor that the throttle cable runs on left side of the throttle body... sensor fails and the car just goes into a limp home mode 10 -15% all xj and xk will need a new one.. 6-7 years they fail.. you can get a used one but may happen again and you don't know when .. and no one in the world sells the sensor separate. $1900 is cheaper then in canada .. here they are $2700 .If you get a used one make sure it is from a car 2001-2003.

Thanks for the consultation. Your diagnosis confirms what the dealer informed me after I made a subsequent call to determine the best route to take to get the vehicle repaired. Guess I should be glad the cost of the positioning sensor is less here in Georgia.
