My application was accepted by BAT. It will hopefully be listed later this week or first part of next week!

No surprise there. They pretty much accept anything that is submitted. Good luck!

I don’t know about that 😊. All the cars I’ve seen on that site either are very nice or have some sense of collectibility. Haven’t seen any Fairmonts or Chevettes 😉

Agreed, like this 03 XJR which sold for $23,560
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-jaguar-xjr/

or this exceptionally nice low mileage 03 XJ8 that went for $22,000
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-jaguar-xj/

or this 2000 XJR for $14,000
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-jaguar-xjr-5/

They have some really nice cars on their site, and I don't think you will have any problem selling yours.

That's why I said everything submitted gets accepted. Everything submitted is nice, or cool in some way. My dad has sold a V8 Vantage on there. And a 99 RT/10 they've approved.

Bring A Trailer, or BAT is a very unique place to sell a special interest or collectible vehicle. They are somewhat particular in accepting vehicle applications. There age many knowledgeable followers who can become very candid in the many comments that accompany each auction. This can help an auction or hurt it.Therefore, be very honest in your pictures and description. Do not conceal any flaws (all vintage vehicles have something) and be very active answering questions during the auction.Detailed, high-resolution pictures are a must -bidders are buying sight unseen. Get access to a lift and take many pictures of the undercarriage. Add some videos of a cold start up and driving.X308 XJR's tend to do quite well on that site. Good luck. I think it will easily surpass the $5k mark.

Wow, excellent ad, couldn't wish for more photos.

I think the "faults" should be downplayed, and also combined to just one place in the text...."The paintwork is near perfect, the only minor imperfections being some barely discernible marks caused by long ago bird droppings, careful inspection can reveal a small crack in the passenger airbag cover, and door trim, but a complete set of wood paneling is included in the sale. There is a minor chip in the windshield which is hardly noticeable, but the seller will install a new windshield if it is a concern to a prospective buyer"

I would remove the word "stock" when referring to the Premium Alpine System.

And I would completely remove the reference to the antiquated Navigation System.

The only thing I might expand on is the fact that these supercharged Jags have the super-strong, super-reliable, Benz 5G-Tronic W5A580 5 speed automatic transmission to deal with the extra supercharged power. (most buyers probably know this but it doesn't hurt to promote it).

I would re-word the information about the keys to read: " the car comes with three sets of original keys, including the valet keys for extra security".

You repeat the information about the mileage and who did it, I would get rid of one of those and only mention it once.

I would combine the "things done" into one paragraph, You repeat battery, fuel pumps, water pumps etc.....combine it to" "Things that have been replaced include new tie rods, ball joints, fuel pumps, water pump, engine mounts, brake pads, hoses, as well as a new battery".

Hey, not saying I'm right, but that's what I see on a first read of the ad.

Thank you so much Carnival!!! I am forwarding on your post in complete entirety. I have had many back and forth conversations with them and it was what I got. However a different point of view and verbiage is so important and I am grateful!

Is your car supercharged by chance?

Chris, no, mine is the "standard" XJ8 Vanden Plas normally aspirated (with the BMW ZF5HP24 transmission)

Chris, I think I would also remove the information about the headlight units having been disassembled for cleaning. I don't think it's a plus, and if anything it arouses suspicion as to why they needed doing. Not a big deal, but I think it's more of a detriment than a positive.

Well she has been sold. Probably for more than what most would consider since the tensioners haven’t been done but less than I thought she would go for. :/

I want to thank all of you as this is one great community of Jag owners and this forum has saved me a lot of time and money to boot. I’ll miss my Jag without any doubt and may never find a car that clean again unless it’s one of yours

Im sure from time to time I’ll ghost just to see what’s going on. Until next time. Thank you and God bless!

Chris, a really nice XJR,and an excellent ad with beautiful pics. I think you got a really good price all things considered and should be really happy. And BAT was probably the best choice for the sale location.

Congratulations on the sale.

I personally wouldn't go near it at that price with those original plastic tensioners still in place. It also looks like your interior veneer is suffering from the" clouding" issue that some model years were prone to. I do wish you luck though - I love to see these sell for decent prices..

[Guess I missed the part where it sold at $8,250. Someone overpaid IMO, but good for you]

I can appreciate that, however from my point of view, I would rather have a car that has excellent paint and body and one with an outstanding interior. I would rather spend 2k on tensioners than have to have the leather replaced in the car and or deal with paint/body issues. Too I am including another set of wood with the car.
