Time to sell my 01 XJR How much $?
Hello Everyone!
Well the hard time as come to sell my car. The last three years I may have put 500 miles on her. She has 91k miles, runs fantastic. BRG with Oatmeal interior. The car is in fantastic shape in and out. However I did remove the headliner(its been recovered) and I have not yet reinstalled(unheated garage). Too I have never replaced the tensioners (no noise but I know that doesn't mean anything). I have replaced the ball joints, tie rods, shock bushings all within the last 5k miles. It does have a new DieHard AGM battery. Always changed with Mobile1 and a Jag filter(have 2 more) every 3-5k or now, every year. Always garaged, originally from Texas and doesn't see salt or snow. Here are a few exterior shots, Ill get some interior as well. What do you think its worth?
Thanks!!
Chris

Nice color, not high miles, but not "low" miles, sounds like it has been cared for, and it is an "R".
But, tensioners not done, and headliner out, that stings. From a buyer's point of view they're $3,000, and maybe $500, fixes.
I would certainly get the headliner fixed, it's too aesthetic a thing not to. Then maybe a less-knowledgeable buyer may not be too concerned about the tensioners. You haven't been.
As the car stands I think you would struggle to get more than tire kicker prices. If you fixed the headliner......... if the right buyer came along, maybe $4,500. If you fixed the tensioners, maybe $5,000?
So difficult to second guess these cars at this age. So many out there for very little money, and yet sometimes that certain buyer comes along and pays way too much for one.
Compare your car to this one.....

I hear ya! However I just picked up a one owner 66 Mustang GT 4 speed from Utah and don't really need both. While I have loved the Jag as long as I've owned it(bought it in 2006 out of Texas with 41k miles as I hate rust and knew I wouldn't drive it in the snow here), My heart is really with older cars. I will say there is never a time I drive her that I don't get stares and admiration for the beautiful lines and color.

I agree with Jim. If the wood and leather are in good shape, and there are no neglect issues with the car, it's worth a bit more than your average X308. The XJRs are not as easy to find, especially in the popular BRG color.
Now, if it's also throwing throttle-body codes, has a leaky heater hose, shifts "funny", is running on one fuel pump, has a klunky suspension, has terrible fuel trims etc. etc. etc. -- Then even though it's beautiful it's an expensive fixer-upper. If all it needs are tensioners and the interior looks as good as the exterior then you've got a pretty desirable car there!

Bring A Checkbook
Badbenz94, you may get a higher price at an on-line auction attended by those looking for something just like your car. Please check out "Bring A Trailer".
I realize it appears to compete with our own Jag Forum "Marketplace" but the interactions between potential bidders, random hecklers and the seller is a very different dynamic.
I agree with all above recommending you complete the chain tensioners and headliner.
Pay attention to the presentation of cars getting an above average final bid.
Whether or not you use 'Bring A Trailer' you can see how a careful, detailed presentation, and a seller willing to answer all questions honestly makes a huge difference in realizing maximum potential. My completely made-up guess is; presentation quality can affect the final bid by 30-35%.
The on-line response to your presentation can actually drive bidders interest up or down.
Lessons learned there can be applied wherever you market your beautiful car.

I have been told a few times this week to post there as well. I will have it photographed and the headliner back in this week, however i will not be doing the tensioners and will be clear in regards to that in the listing. I believe that is a better place for the enthusiast both selling and buying.

Well I finally got the headliner done.
What do you guys think?
Based on others on BAT, I feel pretty confident. Any opinions or thoughts are welcome.
I think I get some better than phone photos and post it on BAT.
