My 2003 XJ8 calls for 38 front, 34 rear. Don't know if it's much different for your Super V8 or not.

Are the recommended tyre pressures not on a label inside the cubby box (centre console) lid?

Look at the drivers side door for the tire pressure. That is always the best tire pressure to use.

Correct tyre pressures for these models are:
Front: 32 psi
REar: 34 psi

You may find that the car responds better by using 34 front and 36 rear.
Many owners may not be aware that these cars are heavier at the back than the front.
Same tyre pressures apply to the XJR as well.
I run Yokohama AVS Db Decibels on my car.
