Are you getting a CEL? Any codes?

About the only thing to do is change the transmission fluid and hope for the best. These transmissions have a failure rate somewhat higher than desireable.

Check the discussions under 'Transmissions' at the XK8/R FAQ sticky:

Im going to take the car to get it diagnose today, Im not sure what CEL means, somebody else told me to check the fluid, i know i have to do that directly through the transmission in other words no dip stick, i was wondering does the car need to be lifted up all around to give you a better idea how much fluid it has or just lift the side i need. thanks for the info.

"These transmissions have a failure rate somewhat higher than desireable" is said by contributor Test Point. Now there's a british-style understatement if I ever heard one.
