Nothing like a good 13 year old thread…the x308 will live on for a bit….mine has 225,000 miles and counting

I was kind of following a youtube video series by countydomestic where a guy rebuilt his x308 tranny as well as a number of 5hp24 "teardown" videos by Gary Ferraro (I don't recall him ever posting a video showing how to put it back together again but then he's in the business of putting them back together) as well as the ZF manual itself and didn't feel qualified to post my own step-by-step instructions. If I had done it before and could have thought ahead to stage appropriate photos, but I was figuring it out on the fly. On the youtube series, the countydomestic guy cobbled together his own special tools and showed them in video 8 or 9 of his series but didn't give a whole lot of detail to reproduce all of them. I still need to take photos and write more detailed descriptions of my own homemade special tools like I promised.
